Flight

I realise that this pic is not perfect, it's blurred, etc. But I thought it was quite interesting. It was pure chance, as I was trying to take a pic of this bird on a branch and it just flew away at that moment.

Fitness goals for November

Once more I need to review my fitness goals, so I think I'll set goals month by month, it'll be easier.

I'm still working on the 30-day shred at the moment and am now on level 2 (of 3). I'm also planning to introduce some other work out in addition soon, so I'll incorporate this in my new goals.

So, for November:

5 sessions of 30-day shred - level 2 (3/5)
5 sessions of 30-day shred - level 3 (0/5)
4 sessions of Tae Bo (0/4)

As usual, I'll report back in this post with my current progress

Sushi

I went to pick Tim up at work at lunch and we had sushi in town. I love going to that place, it's pretty cheap at lunch time (8.90 EUR) and you can eat as much as you want for that price. The boys love it too!

End result

So, yesterday I was posting the first step of my advent calendar. Well, I had to finish it and did it all last night. Here is the end result. I'm quite pleased with it, I think it's nice and bright.

Got to fill it now...

Weigh in - Week 7

A very small loss this week (only 200 gr) but, as long as it goes down, I'll take it. I blame it on our Diwali dinner last Friday, I did indulge a bit too much on Indian food. ;)

Starting weight: 85.55 kg
Last week's weight: 84.35 kg
This week's weight: 84.15 kg
Total loss so far: 1.4 kg

Final goal weight: 70 kg

Doesn't look like much yet!

This is the beginning of my "advent calendar" project. I saw these muffin tin advent calendars on Etsy the other day and thought that was a great idea.

I'm first covering squares in felt and will decorate them after. These are the first 8 squares I just did.

30 day shred - Level 2

Yay, I have graduated to the level 2 of the 30 day shred. I originally thought I'd do 30 sessions of level 1 then move up. But, level 1 didn't seem to be challenging enough anymore, so I decided to give a go to level 2. I have just finished my first session and, it was harder than level 1, but still do-able, so I'll stick with this level for now.

Source of addiction

Weigh in - Week 6

So glad to see the trend continue and to have lost about the same amount of weight this week as last week.

I really think the 30-day shred is helping me, so I'd better keep with it!

Starting weight: 85.55 kg
Last week's weight: 84.90 kg
This week's weight: 84.35 kg
Total loss so far: 1.2 kg

Final goal weight: 70 kg

Knitting socks?

Maybe you've seen my picture of the day from three days ago... I have decided that, after 30 years of knitting, it was finally time for me to learn to knit socks. I found that book about a method to knit both socks at a time on a round needle and thought I'd give it a try.

I started last night and was met by some frustration! Today, the technique seems to make much more sense. Now, I'm not sure whether I'm looking forward to reaching the heel...

Wait and see I guess.

How to eat mussels?

A demonstration by Logan and Connor...

Just out of the stove and still steaming

Do you think he enjoyed this? ;)

Great finger skills!

This is only a portion of what we ate

Sunset

No comment really, we had a gorgeous sunset tonight.

For me?

So, what do you think, should I apply?
(for those not proficient in German, it means "Darmstadt is searching for the superwoman")

We made biscuits today :)

I made biscuits with the boys today after school. It was hard work, but they enjoyed it. I only have pictures of the decorating phase, because Tim was back from work. Before, I was way too busy overseeing everything to even think about taking pictures! ;)

Here we all are in action

Logan's outcome

And Connor's outcome ;)

More pictures from Darmstadt

This is a detail of the Bismarck statue from the previous post

Darmstadt Castle and a weird statue on the opposite square. The statue always ends up holding a can of beer for some reason LOL

Darmstadt has a castle because it was the residence of the Archi-Dukes of Hessen (the region) and they lived there until the last century

This is the old "Rathaus" town hall, that dates back to the 16th Century. It's now mostly a brewery/bar, but there are still offices from the town hall, where they do weddings (there was one going on, you can see a limousine at the front) and where you have to go to register the birth of babies (both Logan and Connor were registered there)

A detail from the Rathaus

This is the main square of Darmstadt: Luisenplatz. All the trams and buses pass this point and the man on top of the column is a former Grand-Duke of Hessen, Ludwig. He was a great patron of the arts and instituted a "Kunstler Kolonie" - an artist colony - at the beginning of the Art Deco period and Darmstadt became one of the main Art Deco centers in Germany

And here is Ludwig

The "Weiss Turm" (white tower)

This is the "Central Station", Darmstadt's former train station, now a venue for concerts

Bismarck

This morning, I went to town (Darmstadt) and wandered around the center with my camera in hand. Yesterday, it rained all day, so it was very nice to have a beautiful - if cold - day. This is a statue of Bismarck that is in the center of town, in the pedestrian zone.

New Book

I know, I know, I'm probably the only one who would be excited to get this book!!!

It just arrived in the post today and, I have to admit, that I was really excited. So I decided to make it my picture of the day.

The sky tonight

So, it seems it's not just spiders I have a fascination with...

Yes, I do love cloudy skies, so you'll have to see some more.

Arachnophobics - Look away!

I do apologize to those afraid of spiders, but I am fascinated! LOL

So, yesterday I noticed this huge web that I tried to photograph. Well, today I saw the master who designed it and it was busy trying to catch a prey and then dealing with it.

Of course, I had to photograph it... :)

Here are a few pictures. First, the picture I took of the empty web yesterday
